OVERVIEW

About Copilot Money

Copilot Money is a personal finance app for people in the US who want their spending, bills and investments in one place. It connects to your bank, card and investment accounts and sorts each transaction into a category automatically. A Recurrings view lists your subscriptions and regular bills, showing what is paid and what is still to come this month. It also covers budgets, cash flow, investments and net worth, and a chat assistant in beta answers questions about your own data. The practical use case is spotting forgotten subscriptions and seeing upcoming charges before they land.

The account connections are read-only, so Copilot shows charges but cannot cancel anything or move money. You cancel subscriptions yourself with each provider. It only works with US financial institutions and runs on the web, iPhone, iPad and Mac, with no Android app. Some recurring charges may need creating or adjusting by hand, using filters for name, amount and timing. There is no free plan, so use the trial month to check whether it finds everything your own statements show.

What the workflow does

  • Automatic categories: Learns your spending patterns and tags each transaction with a category, getting better as you use it.
  • Recurring charges list: Shows paid and still-to-pay recurring charges for the current month, less frequent ones coming later, and archived ones.
  • Editable recurring rules: Creates a recurring charge from an existing transaction, with filters for name, amount range and timing, and shows the next expected payment.
  • Budgets with rollovers: Sets category budgets and lets unspent amounts roll over to later months.
  • Accounts in one place: Connects read-only to over 10,000 US financial institutions, with direct connections for Venmo, Apple Card and Coinbase.
  • Money Assistant (beta): A chat assistant that answers questions using only your own financial data in Copilot.
