Gemini Spark for small business: what it does and recipes to try

Gemini Spark is Google's always-on AI agent in the Gemini app. You describe a task, and it works through the steps in Google's cloud, using Gmail, Calendar, Sheets and other connected apps. It can run on a schedule or when an email arrives, and it is designed to ask before sending messages or changing your data.

Set up your first Gemini Spark task

  1. Check that you qualify: a personal Google account, a Google AI Pro or Ultra plan, age 18 or over, Keep Activity turned on and a supported country.
  2. Go to gemini.google.com, click Settings & help, then Connected Apps, and turn on only the apps your task needs, such as Gmail.
  3. Click Switch to Spark in the sidebar. In the Gemini app on Mac, open Spark, then Tasks.
  4. Pick a recipe below, copy its setup prompt, paste it as the task description and submit. Spark confirms the rules before it starts.
  5. Follow progress and files in the work panel and check Schedules for anything the task saved. Click Stop to end a running task.

What to check before you trust it

  • Start read-only: ask for lists and draft text in the task thread before you let Spark change anything.
  • Test with the recipe's fictional sample before you connect real accounts.
  • Review Recent Tasks and the work panel to see the steps Spark took and the files it read.
  • Keep the confirmation step for anything that sends, buys or changes data. Google notes Spark can make bulk changes to private Google Tasks without asking.
  • Avoid schedules for sensitive or time-critical actions, especially when you may be offline.

Good to know

  • Gemini Spark is an experimental feature. Availability, interface and usage limits depend on your plan and country and can change.
  • Google's help page says work and school accounts are not supported for now.

We have not run these setups ourselves. Recipes are written from public Gemini Spark documentation, and their examples are illustrative.

Frequently asked questions about Gemini Spark

Is Gemini Spark free?

No. Spark needs a paid Google AI Pro or Ultra subscription, and its usage limits rise with the plan. Cancelling or downgrading pauses your schedules.

Is Gemini Spark available in my country?

It is offered where Gemini Apps are available, except the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, Switzerland and Nigeria. You also need a personal Google account: work and school accounts are not supported for now.

How is Gemini Spark different from regular Gemini?

Regular Gemini answers in a chat. Spark takes on a task, works through the steps in Google's cloud, uses the apps you connect and can keep running on a schedule after you close the app.

Can Gemini Spark send emails without asking?

Google says Spark is designed to ask before sending communications, changing your data, making purchases or submitting web forms. It can make bulk changes to private Google Tasks without asking, so check what each task can reach.

How many tasks can Gemini Spark run?

Up to 15 tasks can run at the same time, and up to 50 schedules can be active. A schedule does not run if 15 tasks are already running or you have reached your usage limit.
