OVERVIEW
About Chatbase
Chatbase lets a business build an AI support agent from its own website pages, files and help content. The agent can sit on your website and in channels such as WhatsApp, Messenger, Instagram and Slack. Actions let it look things up in connected tools, for example order details from a Shopify store. It replies to customers automatically, without a person approving each message. Guardrails can send topics such as refunds to a person instead.
The shared helpdesk inbox, where people and the AI work in the same conversation, starts on the Standard plan. Hobby is cheaper but has fewer credits and no helpdesk inbox. Removing the "Powered by Chatbase" label costs USD 1,188 a year on top. Test with real past questions before going live, and review wrong answers and escalations every week. Recent reviews include a complaint about repeated charges after an account closure request, so read the cancellation terms before you subscribe.
What the workflow does
- Agent trained on your content: Answers from website pages, files and other sources you connect, within the training size of your plan.
- Replies on several channels: Answers customers automatically in a website widget and on WhatsApp, Messenger, Instagram and Slack.
- Actions in connected tools: Can look up orders, payments or bookings through tools such as Shopify, Stripe and Calendly, within a per-agent action limit.
- Helpdesk inbox and hand-over: On Standard and above, the AI and human agents share one inbox, so a person can take over a conversation.
- Conversation analytics: Shows topics, sentiment, resolution rates and escalations to review.
