Illustrative example · fictional input
- Sample input
- Fictional practice only. This is not a real contract or legal advice. Our role: customer buying a service. Review focus: payment terms. Practice deadline: three working days. Fictional company playbook, prepared only for this exercise: ask for payment 30 days after a correct invoice; flag shorter payment periods for human approval. Do not assume any jurisdiction or legal rule. Fictional clause: The customer must pay each invoice within seven calendar days of receipt. Only this clause is supplied. The rest of the contract and its governing law are unknown.
- Illustrative output
- Illustrative issue: the seven-day payment clause differs from the fictional 30-day company preference. Ask the reviewer whether to request 30 days. This excerpt cannot establish legal validity, enforceability or overall contract risk.

Setup guide
Try this in Claude Cowork
A paid Claude plan with the Legal plugin available. Claude Desktop for macOS or Windows open and connected for a shared local folder. An active internet connection. A fictional practice clause and preference; real contracts need a counsel-reviewed playbook and approval to share the data.
- Open the official Legal marketplace page and choose Install in Cowork, or use Customize > Plugins > Discover > Legal > Add in Claude.
- Create a separate practice folder. Save the fictional company preference from the sample below as legal.local.md, label it as practice only, and select that folder in Claude Desktop.
- Start a task. Select Cowork only if your message box offers it; the new Claude experience accepts the task directly.
- Use / or the + menu to choose review-contract from Legal. Supply the fictional clause, our customer role, payment focus and practice deadline, together with the prompt below.
- Check the quoted clause and difference from the practice rule. For a real contract, have qualified counsel check the full document and the relevant jurisdiction before relying on any output.
- The quoted seven-day clause matches the input.
- The 30-day position is identified as a fictional company preference, not a legal rule.
- The output says the rest of the contract and jurisdiction are unknown.
- Real legal analysis and any proposed changes go to qualified counsel before use.
Includes fictional input. Run it in Claude Cowork and review the result before using it.
